Neighbourhood Centre Week: A National Celebration of Belonging in Australia

In May 2025, Neighbourhood Centre Week lit up communities across Australia with a powerful message: “Stronger Together.”

Hundreds of neighbourhood centres opened their doors for a week of connection, celebration, and community spirit. From city hubs to rural towns, the energy was shared — and deeply felt.

Highlights included:

  • Community feasts and storytelling circles for all ages
  • Youth-led exhibitions celebrating diversity and creativity
  • Pop-up wellbeing hubs offering free support and connection
  • Skill-sharing workshops on digital skills, gardening, and more

More than just events, the week showed what neighbourhood centres do best: create spaces where people belong, contribute, and thrive no matter their background.

IFS proudly recognises this celebration as a beautiful reflection of what local communities can achieve when they are supported, resourced, and trusted to lead.
