Due to the COVID-19 pandemic threat, the IFS General Assembly planned to take place in Sydney, Australia at the IFS Conference 2020 was held online on August 12, 2020. The IFS General Assembly was open to all IFS members and more information on the event will be shared later.
The General Assembly was followed by a webinar focused on Discrimination Grounds around the world. The webinar started with a presentation by Ms Dominique Day from the organisation Daylight in the USA.
Ms Dominique Day is an American attorney, admitted to practise in New York. She sits on the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent and has worked with governments, universities and NGO´s as a subject matter expert on legal aid, access to justice, building effective legal institutions, human rights advocacy and rule of law.
After Ms Dominique’s presentation, participants at the webinar were given the opportunities to talk about the different types s of discrimination experienced in their countries and how they fight against them.
