Regional Mental Health Conference 2026 to Take Place in Kisumu, Kenya

The International Federation of Settlements (IFS) is pleased to announce the Regional Mental Health Conference 2026, taking place on 29–30 September 2026 in Kisumu, Kenya.

Hosted by TINADA Youth Action Africa, the conference will explore the theme:

“Voices of Experience, Empowering Healing: Advancing Community-Led Mental Health, Inclusion, and Resilient Wellbeing.”

The conference will bring together practitioners, community leaders, researchers, policymakers, people with lived experience, development partners and young people to explore innovative, community-led approaches to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.

Through keynote presentations, interactive panel discussions, practical workshops and networking opportunities, participants will exchange knowledge, showcase promising practices and build partnerships that support inclusive, resilient and mentally healthy communities across Africa and beyond.

Guided by this year’s theme, the conference will highlight the importance of lived experience, youth leadership and community-driven solutions in transforming mental health systems. Discussions will also address reducing stigma, strengthening social inclusion and expanding equitable access to quality mental health and psychosocial support services.

IFS encourages members and partners working in community development, health, social services, academia and related fields to participate in this important regional gathering and contribute to shaping the future of community mental health in Africa.
