My IFSJ Study visit 2022 experience – Mourad Chalal
In June 2022, eight professionals and volunteers from different European countries participated in the Fostering Social Justice Study Visit in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna in Finland. One of them was Mourad Chalal from Association des Centres Sociaux d’Aulnay-Sous-Bois in France. Mourad advocates for social justice and does tremendous work in fighting against racism, discrimination and other forms of injustice to better his community.
In his online portfolio, Mourad shared his experience as one of the participants in the IFS Fostering Social Justice hosted by the Finnish Federation of Settlement Houses. The few lines below will give you a glimpse of Mourad’s experience.
“My five days in the Suomi (Finland) capital were rich, intense and bright. The strength of such a study visit lies in the incredible opportunity to discover these societal realities from the commitments of the associations I met.”
Each organization or institution, public agent, manager, animator, coordinator, volunteer or beneficiary allowed me to discover the backstage of a complex society.
“I returned to France with a head full of faces and testimonies of project engineering and work organizations, space arrangements on the premises, and ambitious programs developed to face these contemporary challenges.”
