The SDG in focus for this session is SDG 5 Gender Equality, with the focus on domestic and family violence. Domestic violence can take many forms, but 1 in 4 women will experience physical violence by their intimate partner at some point during their lifetimes.

This session, our guest speaker is Gabrielle Williams, Victorian Minister for Women, Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

Minister Williams, a passionate advocate for equity and social inclusion, became a Minister in 2018 after previously serving as a Parliamentary Secretary for Carers and Volunteers.

Minister Williams will be joined by Tanja Kovac, CEO, Gender Equity Victoria, 
Victoria’s peak organisation for women’s health, equality and violence prevention.
Tanja is an advocate for gender equality and a policy leader with decades of experience working in government, law and the non-profit sector. She was previously Chief of Staff to the late Fiona Richardson MP, Australia’s first family violence prevention minister where she was involved in delivering family violence reform and creating Victoria’s first Gender Equality Strategy.
