Communication webinar: communication in the time of COVID-19 and the use of social media in community work

The IFS communication representatives will talk about the rapid changes that COVID-19 has inflicted upon Settlement and Neighbourhood Houses and the impact and the lessons learned. This meeting is also the opportunity to assess the use of social media platforms as an efficient and effective communication tool and how to facilitate access to online meetings tools.

Presenters

  • Moderator: Junias Kanyinda, Communication manager IFS Helsinki Office.
  • Reetta Hänninen, Loistosetlementti with the project “Sua varten Somessa” (Just for you in social media), a project of three organizations (Loisto Setlementti, Setlementti Puijola and Nicehearts). The project has been funded to fight the increasing amount of bullying and harassment happening on social media. “Sua varten Somessa” is taking youth work to completely new territories providing support and information on social media platforms which are most popular among adolescents (Snapchat, Instagram and Tiktok).
  • Sophie Michelena, Locality UK with a survey of European experiences of social centres through the COVID-19 crisis.
